Black Rock Cinemas is new to Burning Man in 2024. A collaboration in skills from the historic Grauman's Chinese Theatre in Hollywood and the Cordillera International Film Festival in Reno. The vision: to bring a world class film festival to the playa.
We are offering Burners the opportunity to enjoy our selection of short films in an air-conditioned theatre tent seating about 30 people or, in a much more spontaneous manner, at a fire pit out front with a big screen TV or at our "Bike-In Movie Theatre" with a big screen TV, also out front. Whichever way you choose to enjoy a movie, just come hang with us.
Our team from the Cordillera International Film Festival, a non-profit organization supporting Future Film Makers, is curating a special collection of short films to screen on the playa. Ranging from 5 minutes to 20 minutes, short films are among the most creative format for storytelling. Up and coming directors, producers and actors present their art form throughout the week. With 4-6 new movies being presented each day, be sure to stop by to enjoy a few films.
Setting up a first-time camp is expensive. Just the portion of our camp to support the film festival and purchase our cinema tent, seating, TVs, audio equipment for all Burners to enjoy will require $50,000. Please consider a contribution to make this a reality. Special gifts and party invites will be bestowed.
